Research Postgraduates
We offer three kinds of research degree for postgraduate students.
A vibrant interdisciplinary culture
The Centre for Gender Studies offers a stimulating environment for postgraduate research study, and hosts a programme of regular seminars, workshops and public lectures as well as a postgraduate colloquium.
A small core academic and administrative staff coordinate the activities of the centre, and promote a lively interdisciplinary research culture and a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
We encourage students and research staff to become involved in the wide range of activities that take place within the Centre, and to make use of the resources and opportunities available in the Centre's 'partner' departments both within the University and at partner institutions.
Members of the Centre collaborate across the disciplines in both empirical and theoretical research projects. The Centre also runs an electronic discussion and news list, and organises regular social events.
A convenient location
The Centre is located in the Coach House on the main University of Leeds campus, close to the heart of the city.
The Coach House has been fully refurbished to an impressively high specification, and provides dedicated office space for Centre staff, visiting scholars, post-docs and PhD students.
In addition, a common room and kitchen provide social space for all our students and members.
The Graduate School
Our School provides specialist support and facilities for postgraduate students through the Faculty of Education, Social Sciences and Law Graduate School.

Research training
The University offers training in research skills for research students through the Staff and Departmental Development Unit (SDDU).
UK GRAD
Leeds University hosts the Yorkshire and North East Regional Hub of the UK GRAD programme, a resource-packed, event-organising entity that provides a range of resources and tools to support postgraduate researchers.
